Part L Regulations

Why you need Fireguard by JCC

Part L Conservation of fuel and power
The 2010 revised Part L regulations now state that not less
than three out of four of all the light fittings in a domestic
dwelling needs to be low energy with a luminous efficacy of
greater than 45 lumens per circuit Watt and a total output
greater than 400 lamp lumens.
Luminaries of 5W or below are excluded from the overall
count of the total number of light fittings. JCC have a range of
specific luminaries that meet these criteria including both CFL
and LED light sources.

Follow link below for JCC Fireguard downlights that conform to the latest
modification to Part L of the bulging regulations.

Water Softeners

Tapworks' managing director, Mike Pickavance, discusses the importance of water softeners, including some health benefits

Despite everything we know about limescale, it's amazing how many people choose to live with it and its effects, when there is a simple way to banish it from the home: the humble water softener.

For many people who have had water softeners for decades, they wouldn't live without one. The new modern water softeners are a massive improvement over the older models and the energy and cost savings that accompany an investment in one make the investment worthwhile.

Limescale forms inside pipes, radiators, cylinders, pumps and boilers. Just a 1.6mm build-up of scale can cause a 12% loss in heating efficiency from the heating system - that's a massive waste and it has a massive cost implication, too. Scale will also form around the heating coil and eventually fill a hot-water cylinder. It's estimated that the amount of hard water used annually by … [Read More]

Smarter Showering

Bristan Makes Showering Green Again

Showers have long been promoted as more water and energy efficient than baths. However many modern shower systems use more water than consumers expect. According to the environment agency, a power shower can use over 60l of water in 5 minutes compared to 70l for a standard bath. Add to this the fact that many users stay in the shower far longer than 5 minutes or have more than 1 shower per day and the green credentials of showering look rather shaky.

The good news is Bristan has extended it’s EcoSmart range of water efficient products with the launch of a new [Bristan Eco shower handset ] model No. HAND100 ECO C.

Offering excellent value for money the stylish single function handset features a built-in flow limiter that instantly reduces water usage to six litres per minute. It can be fitted with any shower hose to deliver signifi… [Read More]
